Recover

I use Civil 3D for 8 hours every day at my job. For the past week or two, almost every single day I have to run recover when my program autosaves. Why is it having so much trouble saving every day? It wastes a lot of time when I have to randomly run recover every day.  I'm fairly new to the program so any help is welcome.

Hi-

Which version are you running?  Are you keeping up to date with Service Packs/updates?

I'm using 2018. I assume I'm up to date on everything, my company just installed C3D 2018 earlier this month, however I can't be 100% sure if I'm up to date on the service packs/updates.. Where can I look at these and update accordingly? That would be an easy solution if it is the problem.

Hi-

please look for the Autodesk Desktop App.  It searches your current installs and verifies you’re running software with the latest updates.  There is a Civil 3D 2018.2 update you should install.  It resolves many issues.

I hope this helps.

dibenso4,

In addition to Mike's excellent advice, you can type in _ABOUT on the command line. That will tell you what service packs have been installed. You'll want to also install AutoCAD and Map 3D service packs.

If you are using XREF's, also use the RECOVERALL command.  This will recover the selected drawings and all of the xref's in that drawings.  Often times the issue that is causing slow performance is in the xref's.
