When I add a block from the block palette from the "Current Drawing" tab, it inserts in my drawing fine.
When I add a block from the block palette from the "Recent" tab, it asks if I want to redefine the block.
This is the same block, from the same drawing, the only difference is that I changed tabs on the block palette.
Is there any way I can prevent this? How do I tell Civil that this is the same block?
Thanks!
edit: this also happening with the "Favorites" tab

What is your Expert system variable set to?
I don't have anything called Expert in my System Variables
Is that something I can add and set?
For clarification I am running AutoCAD Civil 3D 2024
See below. However, I tried changing this to replicate the issue, but it did not affect it. However, type in Expert at the command prompt and set it to zero (0). See if that happens to fix it for you.
unfortunately, no. My Expert was already 0; I changed it away and back again, the issue remained.
And I can't set it to 3 to suppress redefine question, I have way to many instances of blocks and it takes awhile.
I experimented further, and it only happens with block originally defined in a different file and added through Tool Palettes.
The block I made in this drawing doesn't ask for a redefine.
It sounds to me like it is behaving as it should because the file is coming from another file, it will ask you to Redefine it or not.
except that I can still get blocks from the Blocks palette even when I'm not connected to the original file (on network). So shouldn't the block be coming from inside the file?
Fun fact - If I disconnect from the internet, and therefore the original source file, it doesn't ask to redefine.
So in conclusion, when available, it pulls from the original source, otherwise it pulls from the local drawing?
Thanks for your help.
