Raster resolution grainy

I have a georeferenced drone orthomosaic for a project that is relatively small, 330MB, that I am able to insert (using MAPIINSERT) into the model space, however, the image is very grainy. I have tried resampling the .TIFF but have had no success. The image and the drawing are in the correct coord system and the image inserts exactly where it should be. In Win Photo viewer or other image viewing software, the image is crystal clear with no resolution issues. I have also tried MAPCONNECT, but the image never appears in the model space, save for a white outline where the image is located.

Hi Miles,
Welcome to the Autodesk Forums.
What year/version are you running? Do you have all updates, not just Civil 3D but also Map 3D and AutoCAD?
Can you post a link to your image, using Autodesk Drive, DropBox, or WeTransfer?

@Miles_WelchZEJFM Hello Can you upload your file so we can help you better? Have you tried using the .ECW format? It's the best format for orthophotos, and I can help you convert the image. Regards.

I have never tried the .ECW format. Is this a standard image type?

Miles,
Thanks for posting your image.
Looks tack-sharp to me, using either MAPIINSERT or MAPCONNECT. I'm using Civil 3D 2025.2 with Map 3D 2025.0.1 and AutoCAD 2025.1.1 updates.

I do not have Map 3D as part of my install, is that a part of Civil 3D or a separate program?

@Miles_WelchZEJFM Can't download, seems to need to log in, not is a standard but is the best format to load and view ¿ ortophotos o orthomosaic

I have updated C3D to 2026.1 and I did turn off the base map in geolocation, and the image is coming in crystal clear now. On the advice from Autodesk support, I set GFXDX12 to 0, as well.

Thank you for the help

Miles,
Civil 3D is built on top of Map 3D, which is built on top of AutoCAD. When you update Civil 3D you need to also update Map 3D and AutoCAD.
Sounds like you had a Graphics Card problem. ("GFXDX12 to 0")

If you have an Install of Civil 3D. You should have Map 3D also. Type About on the command line and post an image.
