I have a polyline that is a representation of a water line. i have added Property Sets to this polyline as in Size, Material, Class, SDR and Length

i now want to get these properties to populate in my Line label style. I've done everything i can possibly think of to get it to work in

my label but i just get ???'s

Can anyone help? is this even possible?

thanks

I'm going to take a stab at this, wouldn't using pressure pipe networks accomplish this goal? That is what pipe networks are intended for.

Try this: https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad-civil-3d/learn-explore/caas/video/youtube/watch-v-qBW... This may also only be available for 2017 version.

Not sure how well it will work for poly but give it a shot. GL!

yes that's what they are for. but Pressure pipe networks have alot that could be fixed in them, Right now i only use them for crossing pipes.

For the example i state above, we do alot of Rural water projects with no profile needed. we also don't show fittings, just pipe, valves and hydrants, fittings are incidental to the contract and the contractor can sweep a curve or put in fittings as needed.

So what i do now is i have multiple labels one for each kind of pipe that gives me the size, length +2%, material, class and sdr.

when i saw the property sets i thought maybe this would be a good way to make those parameters i just mentioned to be read from the polyline plus maybe when i port them out to our Rural Water GIS all that information would go with them, but for some reason i can't get a line label to pick that information up from the polyline.

I had watched the video as posted below and done everything it said but it still doesn't seem to work for the polyline. I know that property sets are pretty new and was hoping someone may have tried this with them. if you notice in the video he is using it for an actual C3D structure.

I Created my properties and whether assign them to polyline or everything it still will not read that information from the polyline. i even tried a feature line with the same results.

thanks for you input but maybe property sets just aren't there yet.

Just convert the plines to Flines and add the prop set to the flines. No need to assign elevations. If you don't need them leave theflines at 0

John,

I tried that and it still would not pick up the property set information in the label

Works for me on a fline and fails on a pline with the same property set.

Make sure the label code is EXACT and note it is case sensitive.

Make sure the property set has been edited and will 'apply to' plines, 2Dplines and featurelines.
