Profile view pipe slope sign

Hi,

Could you help me to alter the sign of the pipe slope on my profile view. Currently it is "-" ve upward from start of pipe to end of pipe. How do I make "+"ve sign to upward slope from start of pipe to end of pipe. Currently I am using Civil 3D 2016.

Thank you Mike for quick response. See the attached snapshot. The Gradient is "-" for upward slope from start of pipe to end of pipe. Can I reverse the signage of the slope.

I realize it may be hard to package up all the data.  I would first check your Pipe Sart and Pipe End for that pipe segment.  Make sure the Pipe Start is at the start of your stationing for the profile view and the Pipe END should be connected to your structure. 

If it is already like that, then you may have to add an expression to the Profile Band label style component to resolve it or just edit it to drop the negative sign.

There is an option in the pipe slope label to set the Sign values as 'sign always (+-)'.   Is this not working or is it showing the opposite sign you're expecting?

Yes I have to show opposite signs to the slope what I have now.

The slopes are based on the pipe's assigned flow direction. How about just changing the flow direction. The inverts will all remain just as they are.

You could also make an expression (this may be where Mike was going) to reverse the the pipe slope.  The pic below shows an expression that should do it.  It merely multiplies the pipe slope by -1, which would change its sign from - to +.  Once you make the expression (under the pipe labels section in toolspace) it will become an available pipe property to add to the label style.

Hi Mike, Thanks for the gif. But that is not what I wanted to show. I wanted to show the sign but with the reverse of the sign what is currently assigned.

Hi guys-

I thought the expression way would work too, but for some reason once I created a new expression (under Toolspace\Settings Tab\Pipe) as @MMcCall402 described, the expression isn't available when trying to assign it to the band label style....it only shows pipe properties.  Really strange and frustrating.

After watching Mike's video I realized that the slope information is being used in a profileview band. Bands can't use expressions, so that option is off the table.

Reversing the flow direction is an option. Select and piece of the pipe network in the plan. The ribbon will switch over to the network tools.  In the Modify section there is a pull section of more tools. One of those tools is Change Flow Direction. Select that tool and it will prompt you to select two structures to use for determining the flow direction of all the connected pipes between them. Select the southern most structure as the UPstream and the northern most as the Downstream.  Now the band will show the correct slope but not the + sign yet.  Edit that band style and for the pipe slope property set the Sign to 'sign always (+-)'.  That should do it.
