Profile View Has No Labels

Profile View Has No Labels

Hi,

I have created an alignment along a proposed route, and then used the profile view creation tool to create a surface profile view along the alignment. My issue is that the profile view it produces is very basic showing only the surface level and some grid lines with literally no other information/labels/numbers (I am using the standard style and have not made any chances to it as far as I am aware). Picture attached. When I started using the software a week or so ago, I attempted the same thing but the profile view it produced was perfect with all the information on it, much like the ones that are produced in most tutorials online.

How can I produce the standard profile view with labels and all other additional information on it? I have turned on and thawed all layers to no avail.

Thank you in advance,

Charles

The info you see on a Profile View will depend largely on the Style you select for it.  Maybe you could go back into the DWG you had where it looked right, note the name of the Style of the Profile View, and see if your current DWG has the same Style selected.  If this doesn't work, edit the Profile View Style, browse the tabs (mostly the Display tab) and try changing the "look" of the Style until you have what you need.

The style im using is the Standard style that comes with the software, surely that will be constant from drawing to drawing unless I edit the style itself (Which I have not done as stated)? Whilst troubleshooting I have spent the past few hours trying to edit the style of that particular profile, as you are suggesting, but nothing makes those labels show. Please see attached file to see the output im referring to. According to my limited understanding, this (see attached) is where you modify labels for a profile view?

Can you post the drawning.

The site is geo-tagged and contains information of an on going project, I am weary of uploading it to the internet. I can send screenshots of the standard style settings if that would help?

The labels are there, they're just really really small.  Adjust the drawing scale to something more suitable (like 1:1000) and you'll see them all.

Hi, so my issue is that I have no band style assigned? If I try select a band style, the only one that is available is the standard one. If I select it and add it, nothing changes unfortunately.

Oh wow, thank you! I feel so stupid, I had already checked for this but I didn't zoom in enough. Is there a way I can enlarge the labels rather than change my drawing scale as I would like to be able to view my site plan whilst seeing the profile view at the same time?

Hi,

You have to add Labels and change scale and everything will be ok.

You need to revisit your scale settings.  Example, you have a named 1:1000 and another named 1:3000, yet both of them have the same scale settings.

Suggestion: Reset your scales to the default metric scales.

I have copied this file from a peer who created it in the first place. As a result, I have no idea how the scales work. Is there a scale specified for each object or are they universal, etc? If I reset scales to default metric scales, will this affect the drawing in terms of existing drawings and their scale?

Hi @Anonymous ,

It takes time to customize and create you own label. See this attached Link as a guide and view the <screencast> there. See sample dwg with ANZ profiles.

Good luck and have fun.

I see you changed the scale at the bottom of the drawing to 1:1000 which did the trick! I will investigate how to change the scale of a profile view label in my own time to make sure I gain the knowledge related to this.

Thank you very much, really appreciate it!
