I know I can get a tangent label at the start and end of a view. I'd like one at the middle.
I tried an expression ({Profile View End Station}-{Profile View Start Station})/2 but the anchor point doesn't accept expressions. (that would only work if I had one long tanget too ๐ )
Anyone have a trick?

Can a tangent cut by a profile view length be labeled?

As far as I know a Midview anchor isn't available. But a work around:
A depth type label reading slope allows for slope/length and a few other reporting options besides depth related. Snapping the label line to the end points of the profile lets you have a midview label or almost anywhere on the tangent if you only need the slope, but the line (on a non-plotting layer) has to be manually placed and moved with changes to the profile.
I was afraid of that. Thanks

Does this work? http://blog.civil3dreminders.com/2016/10/profile-tangent-at-midpoint.html
It uses a hidden line with the anchors like you want and then anchor the grade text to the middle of the hidden line.
This method does work for tangents at the end of a profile view - Anchor Tangent Start in View to Anchor Tangent End in View. It doesn't work if the tangent crosses a split profile view however.

Yep, I can't think of way that would save time over a depth label and manually moving it with profile changes. I find if I the label gets too complicated I end up spending more time trying to figure out how it should work.
I have both styles in my template. The anchor to view one is the default, and if I have an issue with a split view I can switch that individual label to the other style.

Semantics bites again ... the difference of Middle of View vs Middle of Tangent in View.
I use the depth style for the 1st (or when reviewer wants to "move it over an inch" to get away from the other notes/objects in profile view) and the one referenced by Civil and Steve for the later.
Thats the ticket. Serves my purposes perfectly.
and it was right under my nose.
Thanks Chris

Also I'd use a reference text component linked to the profile being labeled so if something changes a little bit you don't have to go back in and change all of the labels. It will also make sure the correct slope is shown, even if the text rotation is off.
