Problems with screen jumping

I mostly have this problem in LAYOUT spaces.  As my mouse moves around my screen changes erratically (it's not consistent when I do a certain task).  If you look at the bottom you can see the "Model / 8x14..." (my page layout tabs) going up and down a line.  Does anyone know how to stop this?!?!  It causes problems because sometimes when I click to perform a task it will CANCEL the task (like clicking to draw line and then when I click to start my first point it will cancel).  Sometimes I will have to do the task 2 or 3 or 4 times.

I don't have a clue but for starters, please give your version of the software.  Include all updates, etc.

I don't specifically how to stop it. But some suggestions.

  • Update you graphics card drivers. Also your mouse drivers.
  • Move the toolbar at the bottom of the drawing area.
  • Dock the layout tabs above the status bar.
  • Try a different mouse.
  • Have someone else log into your computer and see if the behavior is the same.

I had the same problem.  Mine was caused when the Z value increased which changed the length of the bottom customization bar.  See if something is changing with the bar length when you move from one side to the other.  In your video it appears to be changing lengths.  I just removed some unnecessary icons and the issue went away.

When watching your video, there's a space between the top of your status bar and the bottom of your command line. To explain further, the area above your coordinates and below the white part of your command line. You may might get a better understanding by watching your video at the second marks 0:02, 0:05, 0:06, 0:07 where you can see that space get wider and then disappear.

Try unchecking the Dock Inline option. Right click on a layout tab to get the shortcut menu. Deselecting the inline option will make you model-layout1-layout2 tabs move above the status and that inbetween space will be permanently wide and not sometimes skinny and sometimes wide like shown in your video.

That did not work.

It seems to be when I moving around something is displaying quickly in the bottom left corner which causes it to shift up.  And then erradically it goes back down.

Chris,
STATUSBARAUTOWRAP? Not available in my old busted 2018 version. Just STATUSBAR.

Thank You.  I have set it.  I will see what happens.  Do you think this needs to be set every time I start AutoCAD?  IF so, I will add it to my opening LSP file that sets my defaults.

Dave:

My 2018 shows the same as yours, (not shown in the list) but it works if you type the entire portion.

Dave, it is undocumented. So perhaps that is why it isnt in the list.

As for if it sticks, my understanding is yes. You shouldn't have to set it again after it has been set.

There is an AKN article on this, I'm not at my computer right now, I'll see if I can find it

The Dock Inline/Above Staus Bar and the StatusBar system variable are the same.

You can access the docking shortcut menu like this:

As Mr @Pointdump alluded to, you can also establish that variable here:

(Express Tools Tab=>Tools Panel=>System Variable Button)

Back in the day, when version 2016 came out it was a new feature. You can watch this >>VIDEO<< explaining the feature. The STAUS BAR is covered at the 1:30 and 2:00 minute marks.

Hi Bill,

OK, I see now. And I guess you type in either 0 or 1.

THIS WORKED:

  • Dock the layout tabs above the status bar.

Try turning off STATUSBARAUTOWRAP. This worked for me when the original method didn’t always work. I’m not sure what else the affects.
