Hello to everyone,

I have a problem with my Surface Elevation Labels when I use them in another file as an External Reference (Xref).

When I set background mask to my Surface Elevation Labels on my original file, the file where I have the reference does not take the colour that I desire (white) but instead takes the colour of the layer of the text with the elevation (red).

How can I fix this problem?

Picture 1 shows the Surface Elevation Labels in the original file. (as I wish)

Picture 2 shows the Surface Elevation Labels in file with the External reference.

What if I told you you could Dref spot elevations and never had to chase a xy position again?

use a pipe network structure styled as a spot grade and never worry again

Make sure you have VISRETAIN turned off so your xref is controlled from your 2nd drawings layer manager.

What layer is your Xref on? is that layer color red? what do the xref label look like if you change the xref to a different layer?

Are the labels on layer 0 and is your xref on any other layer that might have some different settings applied to it?

I've seen where some objects within an xref that are on layer 0 will inherit settings from the layer that the xref is on. This shouldn't be the case here, but it's something to rule out.

Does it still look like this when you pull the label out into a dragged state?
