PRINTING CIVIL3D AIREAL MAPS

Hi friends, I showed my friends in the office where I work how to open civil3d online maps about 6 months ago. I recently heard one of them say that you cant print it. Is there a way to print these online aireal maps? If so could someone show me a screen cast of how to do so?

Hi Erik,

I don't think you can print Bing. Their imagery is proprietary. Same for Google Maps. I hardly ever print anything, but I tried just now with your posted drawing. No go.

So to plot imagery you'll need to grab some free GeoTiff's from Government agencies like <<<this one>>>.

Hi-

There are two options on the geolocation tab to clip the Bing Image to a window or the current view.  This is local version...still linked to Bing Maps server, but it will allow you to print the image.  You may have to adjust the image clarity.

Hey Dave-

once you turn on the aerial, check the Gelocation tab options.  There should be a contextual ribbon option (Capture Area) that allows you to capture an area based on either the view or a window of your choosing.  Then you turn off the geolocation image.  You will see a clip of the image that is printable.  I’m not in front of my computer or I would show you via screencast.  I do it all the time.

Yup. Tried that. Didn't work for me. Pretty sure I'm doing something wrong. I'll play with it more in the morning.

I use the technique @CivilFlow describes but in Paperspace through a Viewport (Capture Area > Viewport) ,then into Mspace and change to a Very Fine resolution....also make sure that the image is on a plottable layer (it will on the current layer when Captured)

I don't know what I did differently, but I got it to work. Maybe it was as Mike and Neil suggested, setting to Very Fine Resolution. PDF attached.

I don't think there's any way to easily search through your 892+ posts. I save all my "profound" threads in Bookmarks, saved into either C3D, Map 3D, Vanilla, etc., Bookmark Folders. And I still have, like, "Dang, where was that thread that answered the question perfectly?"

You can search for a post on the forum and filter by the author (including yourself) which has helped me track down those perfect threads a few times.
