As the title says, I've got a pressure network appurtenance, a RPDA set as a valve in the catalog, that won't display in a profile view. It's in the plan view, you can see everything in the object viewer, but the Profile View properties will not let me set the Draw value to Yes.
is the object style set to show it in profile view? It will look something like the attached.

This is a pressure network appurtenance object, not a pipe.
I've got another appurtenance that refuses to be drawn in a different profile view. I created a new pressure part (a 16" tapping valve) in the content catalog, added it to the pressure network part list, and created an appurtenance with it. It's in the plan view and you can clearly see it in the Object Viewer as shown below.
Here is the Profile View Properties>Pipe Networks dialog box. Clicking on the checkbox does nothing and selecting Yes from the drop down does nothing.
I've created over 60 pressure network parts without any issues, but now the last two I've created I can't add to a profile view. Audit finds no errors and the part catalog shows no errors. I can add and remove these parts from the network without any weirdness except that they refuse to be shown in a profile view. What the heck is going on?
I was finally able to get the pressure network appurtenance to show in the profile by selecting other fittings along with the appurtenance, selecting Draw Parts in Profile, and selecting my profile view. What's strange is that even when I went to the Profile View properties, the appurtenance was not checked under the Draw column. I was able to turn it on, even though it was already on.
It seems to be a bug in that the appurtenances can't be added individually, but must have other parts selected first and can only be added from the Draw parts in Profile ribbon command. Even then, C3D does not have a way that I can find to change the display style. Because the part is listed as a valve, it always shows as two triangles pointing to each other with no way in the style to change this appearance.
EDIT: Spoke too soon. This method worked for the RPDA appurtenance, but not the tapping valve. That one still refuses to be displayed in a profile view.

Well, this happened again to another appurtenance. I had a RPDA appurtenance in the model space and shown in a profile view. I had to change my alignments around and needed to show this RPDA in a different profile view. However, just like with the other issues posted earlier, this appurtenance refused to show itself. The only way I was able to get it to show up was to select the two bends attached to the RPDA as well as the RPDA itself, select Draw parts in Profile from the ribbon, and select the profile view. This is so frustrating.

I've had problems since practically the beginning of using pressure pipes.
I also made hundreds of my own parts to reflect what we actually use to construct a water distribution system. I had no choice - the out of the box part catalog doesn't come close to actual use.
See attached images - plan, 3d and profile views of a part of a system I am designing. I didn't get very far up the pipe run - a whole 15 feet - before I had multiple issues in the profile view.
As far as I know there is no solution to any of this and it is not going to be fixed any time soon - see my post from a couple years ago. My solution is to erase the incorrect parts in the profile and replace them with blocks - it's a workaround, I lose part profile labels and it's prone to error.
@Cadguru42 did you ever find a solution to this? Selecting multiple parts before adding to profile view does not work for me. And all the parts are checked ON in the profile view properties.

The only solution that worked for me was to select multiple parts in plan, click Draw in Profile, and select the profile view.
Yeah, that didn't work for me.
I'm going to keep bumping this post up. Maybe a-desk will start noticing that their product is broken.
I am having the same issue with a TEE. In my case, I have a closed-loop system, so the TEE is on the line at two stations along the same alignment. I have attached a screen snip. If I shorten the alignment to not cross itself, the TEE in the middle of the alignment will appear in the profile view, but obviously the one at the end of the line will not. Is this the case for anyone else?
@Anonymous have you had any luck getting appurtunances to show in profile view? I am also having the same issue with the parts not showing up. I can get the planview block to show up if i insert that as the style. I can get blocks to show up such as hydrant but the scaling is all jacked up.
Bumping this up because I'm also having this issue. I have a few gate valves that won't show up. If I change the size of the valve from 12" to 8", it will show but once I change it back to 12", it disappears from the profile. Guess I'll be resorting to inseserting blocks 😞
Hi @kirstenmhanson ,
Sorry that you're still having this issue. Can you share the version you are having?
Please you also take a look at this article:
Autodesk Civil 3D 2018-2020 Hotfix for Pipe Network DREF Sync Issues
I'm using C3D 2020 update 4. It looks like this hotfix was incorporated into the C3D updates, since the PIPENETWORKSYNCMODE variable is set. The problem is also occurring in the same drawing that the pipes are located, so it's not a DREF.
Hi @kirstenmhanson,
Thanks for providing me with the additional information. I have added these threads to the development write-up original submitted and have requested an update. According to my research, this issue was first reported in 2018, and I have shared the following workaround:
Here's the article I captured describing this issue.
I'll post a reply once I have an update from the development team. Sorry for the inconvenience caused.

I'm sorry, but what does a pipe network parts list have to do with pressure network appurtenances not drawing in a profile view? How is this a workaround?
@Cadguru42 , @kirstenmhanson ,
I just wanted to take a minute and apologize for thinking this is a pipe structure display issue instead of pressure part appurtenances not displaying in a profile view.
I just researched and it looks like the Pressure Part Profile View functionality has gone through a few changes from the 2019-2021 release. The issue that you describe has been reported by other customers to Autodesk and is being researched by our development team. They are currently working on a fix and I will report back once there is a fix.
My apologies for the confusion.
