POINT STYLES

Hi, I am having trouble creating certain point styles. I have created (wblock) symbols to insert as my symbols in point styles. Some of them work perfectly but some insert whatever symbol cad wants it to and I really don't understand. It is driving me bonkers. For example I have created a symbol (wblock) for a cleanout (save it) insert it in point styles and civil3d inserts a water valve type symbol instead.

And even odder, The drawing that I am working on within this drawing template WILL allow me to insert this same symbol correctly but the template won't

Thank you mr. Looper, I'm at work but this looks like it could be very helpful to me. This particular issue is giving me a fit. However once I finally get a grasp on something it's with me for the long haul. I have several posts where you have helped me fully written down in my notebooks that I refer to. I will eventually figure this out

Dear Chicago, this is tremendously exciting. This is very complex and in depth stuff I just watched the video. I will have to watch it several times and take notes but I am certain that I can figure this out with your video and walk away with a wealth of information and a new confidence that I would not have figured out on my own.

I am not seeking sympathy here but I am doing chemo and radiation right now (not feeling well) so I am saying that it may take longer than normal for me to sit down and work at this. So if you will bare with me I would like to keep this post active until I have what it takes to sit down with this, I am really excited about it!

I am going to push my luck a little bit and humbly, kindly ask if you could do a similar video on purging and deleting these block as well as I found myself lost on how to do this. If you don't feel like it it's ok maybe I could reserve that for a future discussion. I have purged drawings before but somehow you were able to somehow specifically purge my blocks and I don't know how you did that.

on a final note, I have decided to begin the autodesk free learning course to prepare me for taking the autocad test at some point.

forget the purging, you'll never win.
You must start with a new template. I don't know the exact name, but it's something like NCS *** Imperial, in the default template folder for civil 3d. Build it from scratch so you control what gets added. Like I said earlier in this post, your existing template which you posted was gonna be trouble. That's still the case. Don't use anything in your existing template except for the knowledge and experience that you now have learned by doing it the wrong way.
Build a template slowly; it should always be an incremental work in progress. Save often, keep archives etc., so you can go back if things get really out of control.

Thank you Chicago, no need to trash my template and start over. A fairly easy fix with some complex steps. I just needed to know the corrective steps. I have it written down in my notebook step by step. Maybe we could do purging and deleting bad blocks in another lesson.
