Point set to be at elevation, not visible or selectable

I am using a state agencies CAD template and they have a point type that uses Point Display Mode = Use Point Elevation. The points using this style are not selectable via mouse, and often disappear when a regen occurs. The simple solution is to set it to Flatten to Elevation 0.000'.

The question I have is if I didn't want to deal with them complaining I changed their standards, is there a way to work with leaving these at elevation and still allow easy selection and consistent existence on the screen?

It is strange they even did this, as most, possibly all, other point styles they created are set to Flatten.

Government institutions are weird. But I have to think there is more problems with the Style or the drawing than the points being at elevation. Just being at elevation shouldn't create the problems you're describing. Is their template available online?

One thing you could do is set your own point style to use while you work. Create point group for the point you have to change and assign their styles just before submission.

I agree with Allen.  Our styles are configured to use the point elevation as well and I have NEVER experienced the issues you've described.

Can you post a dwg file with a few sample points for us to examine?  What version (including SP#) are you using?

Already checked it, but just double checked it now. No change.

There is something very strange about this drawing and it's not limited to points. I drew a line between the two points you referenced and the line is displaying the same appear/disappear act as the points.

I did a copy/paste into our template and the problem disappeared. An Audit didn't turn up anything. But just in case it's a fault in the drawing rather than the template. Try a copy paste into an new drawing from their template.

It appears that NOTHING is showing unless it's at zero elevation.  I split my screen into two vports and set one to an iso view.  I see his triangles (at the appropriate elevations) but they're not shown in the plan view.  Since I'm in the model tab, the same layers HAVE to be on in both vports.

I thought maybe it was related to the DVIEW clip setting but that's off.

Wish it was a simple to resolve issue, but also glad it wasn't just me. I'll keep thinking on it as well.

I still don't know what's wrong with the drawing. But a workaround for selecting the points is to edit the point style and set it to display the point in model as well as plan. Then they're selectable.

Can you post the template or link to it on the municipalities web site?

Here you go. Not 100% certain this is the version as the drawing is older, but it appears to have no changes in the setup related to these points.
