Point Elevations in Alignment Profile View

See the screenshot I attached to see what I mean.

 

It is beyond me why the "elevation" of the point is labelled as being 0, whilst clearly the elevation of it on the y-axis is about 5m.

 

Madness.

 

Edit: Ideally, I'd like the points I place on the alignment, to be placed on the terrain surface, and to be projected as such on the profile view. It would be even better if they could be labelled using datum elevation (i.e. snapped to the terrain surface, but not measured from it)

It is because this Projection Profile label is associated with this point and the Point Elevation is 0.000m even if the projection elevation is 5.002m. If you change the Label Style to use Projection Elevation instead of Source Elevation it will be what you are expecting.

Thanks. I struggle to understand the point of having a "point elevation" and "projection elevation" of different values in the first place though.

 

I'd like both to be the actual elevation. I'd assume this would be true in most cases as well. It seems unnecessary and confusing for these two parameters to be dissociated from one another by default.

So, adjust the point datum to be the surface elevation:

And be sure the points are using a Style set to Flatten to Elevation:

I believe this will do what you are looking for.
