Pipe Network

Any tips for working with pipe networks or videos that I should be aware of?

Specifically, how can I edit elevations? Do I have to edit them in the profile view or network vistas?

Gravity or pressure networks?

You can edit in either plan or profile view by selecting the pipe > right click > pipe properties

Some tips for gravity;

  • Make sure you are using the correct parts catalog for your region (i.e. metric or imperial), your country kit will most likely have a decent set to use
  • Never edit gradients in the normal autocad properties palette
  • Have different partlists for each type i.e. storm and sewage and apply the styles this way
  • Understand your connection type i.e. inner wall, outer wall or centre of manhole (structure)
  • Make sure you have all service packs and any hot fixes installed, this is imperative in 2019 and 2020
  • Look at the pipe and structure rules and make sure they are what you need

I would also strongly recommend purchasing the pipe network productivity tools from @redtransitconsultants  https://apps.autodesk.com/CIV3D/en/Detail/Index?id=5524458269357786704&appLang=en&os=Win64 it provides much of the needed functionality currently unavailable, i.e. WYE connections, swap multiple parts

Thanks,

Michael

Is parts builder necessary for laying out a pipe network or are all the parts a person needs in the parts catalog?

It depends on your region and what the country kit has
