Pipe Network Profile View

Is there a way to project lines as pipe networks in a profile view or do I have to use pipe creation tools from objects?

I should note that the linework has a start z and an end z. The points that have been defined as manholes and curb inlets have elevations.

Of course you can, but forgive me for saying it sounds peculiar. Is this design provided to you or you are creating it?

FYI you can join them up and create the pipe from object.

If you are creating it , you may find a feature line easier to edit and project.

better still draw an alignment for the pipe path , create a profile view and design the pipe on a profile grid.

Many ways, many ways

Just creating an existing storm water network. The pipe network just needs to be drawn in profile view. By design the pipe network from an alignment do you mean to create the profile view of the pipe network and then superimpose to with the centerline alignment surface profile?

How else are you going to make a profile? Are you projecting to a center-line profile?

Since it is existing there no need to design; just setting the survey elevations.

I would still strongly suggest using pipe network. It is no more difficult than setting the z value in a line. You can set the plan display to no plot if that is the issue and project pipes and structures to profile for more detail.

this will become especially evident  if you need to show crossings / conflicts

Its your work flow, but if you're in civil3d ... when in Rome as they say.

IMHO using native object for this task is extra work and issues waiting to happen.

Okay. Thanks. That’s what I’m doing right now. Just wanted to know if I’m doing things correctly
