You have to remember that Civil 3D isn't really a true BIM. There are many things that just can't be modeled in C3D and most of the time don't need to be.

I tried doing this exact thing using corridors. I created assemblies for multiple duct bank configurations using the SA composer. The underground electrical duct banks job we were doing had many splits & merges from various duct bank configurations, making the C3D corridors very complicated & a pain to edit. In the end it was easier to draw the duct banks "by hand" in the profiles, and use the pipe networks for the electrical manholes structures.

Did you get to update the way you did your ductbanks? I'm on the same pickle since our ductbanks have a lot of different runs. trying to find a way not to draw it manually
