Part Builder Profile and Object Viewer

I have created a part in part builder to represent a simple curb inlet.  I have set it up so that I have 2 sizes and it insert correctly except for the fact that it is above the pipe.  In the profile view it is not linked to the pipes except at the top.  I can drag pipes out the bottom instead of the bottom extending.  I am not sure what I have done wrong to get this to happen, but I am wanting the object viewer to display correctly and to be able to use grip edits in profile view like you can on standard parts.  Please help.

Thank you.

Was this structure built from scratch or a modified copy of an existing part that came with the software?

I've always used an existing one that was close to what I needed, saved it as a new part in my family of custom parts and modified it from there. This kept me from ever having to deal with how the structure connects and reacts to pipes.
