Parcel Map Check HTML Report mods

For those of you that have tried to submit lot closure calcs to the local
agency and have been snickered at for using the stock C3D report.....this
one's for you.

I did not like the way these reports looked, at all. Nor does anyone else
around these parts. Maybe the stock reports work just fine in other parts of
the world, but I had to figure out a way to get them more presentable for
us. So far I have only worked on the MapCheck report and I have it to a
point that I think is much more usable. And, it uses far less paper when
printed out than the stock report does. Also, the stock report does not let
you sort the parcels so they are output in the order they were created. I
have added a sort function that allows you to sort by any of the columns in
the Parcel Listbox, thus allowing you to actually have the report in the
order of the Parcel Numbers. Another, smaller, change is that I do not show
the actual parcel Name. I do show the parcel description, but if there is no
description then I use the Parcel Number for the description.

I'm attaching a PNG showing the 2010 stock report on the left, and my
modified report on the right. At this time I have only compiled it for use
with 2009, but will be porting it to 2010 once I'm sure it's working as
desired.

If anyone has any comments, or would like a copy of the revised .NET DLL,
just let me know. Until I get it working correctly with all of the .NET
reports, I will not be posting the source code though.

Thanks for letting me know about this, Ian. I have another tool I use which uses the same base code as the report and it also exhibits this issue. I will get a fix for it soon.

Hi Jeff,

I download those files and ran the 2014 report, I'm still seeing a merge. I don't know about the other versions.

Ian, I just checked the files I put in the zip file, Unblocked the downloaded zip, made sure the Toolbox Report link pointed to the 2014 version, opened your test drawing and ran the report. This is the result I get:

That's very strange. If I move the POB to the angle point I get the same as you, but if the POB is anywhere else the segments merge incorrectly...

Definitely strange. I redownloaded the dwg file because I had changed POB to test. Even in the original dwg I'm getting correct results. I then changed the POB to every angle point and it still worked in all cases. Not sure what's going on. Feel free to drop me an email so we can go over this off the forum if you like. Hi Jeff,

Thank you for sharing all of this with the community.  It is a huge upgrade over the 'out of the can' reports we have been dealing with.  I was able to get your newest 2017 report to work, but I was wondering if you had a version that puts the northing and easting on the same line as the course and distance as shown on your original post way back in 2009?  If not, the one that I got from you is a great upgrade either way!

Thanks again,

Ben

Ben, thanks for the positive feedback! And thanks for pointing out that the format changed...not sure why I, nor anyone else, had noticed that. I will make a note to correct that soon.

Hi Jeff,

I was checking in to see if you ever had an opportunity to update the Parcel Map Check Report?  Maybe it was posted to another forum or website?  If it is floating around out there could anyway please direct me to where I can find it?

Thank you and have a great weekend.

@Ben_Mullins and others,

Attached is a new ZIP file with the modified report dll's for C3D 2015-2018. Besides the 2018 support, I changed the output as requested by Ben to get the coordinates all on the same line as the course.

I was unable to test this in C3D 2018 due to an error in starting C3D 2018. If anyone has any problems with it, just post the issue/error here and I will get it sorted out.

You're welcome, Ben. Glad to hear it worked for you.

I am adding a new zip file with updated report for C3D 2015-2018 which add a new option: To have the report only output the area and closure information for the parcel(s) and exclude the segment data. This was a request from a user who contacted me via email.

Jeff,

Hope you are enjoying your summer so far.

Thanks again for your help. The “closure only" report has been a great option,

I’m pretty sure we’ve saved a lot of trees by utilizing the routine.

I see where you posted to the forum that you had not yet tested the version for Civil3D 2018.

So far we’ve had no luck running the modified Parcel Map Check with version 2018.

We're getting the "failure to execute" error. When you have had a chance to fully test it

will you post your results and findings so we can see if there is an issue on our end with the

installation or just a bug in the 2018 version?

Best and finest regards to you sir.

@tbradshaw6ETVY, welcome to the forums! I have just successfully tested the latest in C3D2018, so all I can suggest is:

A. Be sure the dll is Unblocked.

B. Be sure the path is correct to the dll in the Reports Manager

C. Be sure to use the correct macro name: ParcelMapCheck

Sorry to drag this post out with more debuggingbut I can't get this to run on 17.

I download and unblock the zip.

Copy C3DReport_Modified.dll to

C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\C3D 2017\enu\Data\Reports\Net

Map tool in toolbox per attachment

Get Failed to Execute error in event viewer...

Previous replies to this mention a couple of other required files. Are these the C3DReportsRes_JMM.dll and C3DReports_20xx.dll?

If so are they posted here? If not any other suggestions?

@jmayo-EE, sorry for the delayed response...I was on vacation in July and did not see this post until your email got my attention. 🙂

The correct macro name is ParcelMapCheck. No other dll's are needed, just the one in the most recent zip.

Hope that helps!
