Overridden Text Warning

Overridden Text Warning

For the first time this morning I'm getting a warning on all general labels where I've overridden the default text. Anyone know why and how I can disable this?

Service pack installed this morning.

Thanks

Same here. Installed service pack and now all project have this. Can't figure out the fix!

Thinking it is one of those commands that sets a variable to (0,1,2) but just don't know what the command is.

Same here. Didn't see warning messages yesterday but when I installed SP1 this morning all the Civil 3D Labels pop out with a warning sign next to it. The same for alignments and profiles. Even though they have not been changed.

Anyone else getting an error when trying to CTRL+C copy something after installing this SP1 update?

I get an "error occured during save". This will teach me, I don't usually install service packs for at least a week.

It looks like there are obvious reproduceable issues with installing the SP.

I'd file a support case with Autodesk support and see what they say.

Until a fix is available, un-installing the SP might make these issues disappear.

Jeff, I understand what it is doing. Our question is how do we turn it off.

It doesn't seem to be working correctly either, as every single label is lighting up. It shows that the old content and the new content is the same, i.e. no change....

Mike, in my drawings it appears to be working as designed. Only those labels I've in which edited the text show the information icon. Hovering over that it shows the original contents which you are to use to compare to what the label actually shows. In this image are 4 surface elevation labels, 2 of which I've edited the Text contents. Only those 2 show the information icon.

Anybody figured out how to turn this off yet? I do not need Civil3D to tell me I have overridden a text label. I opened a recent boundary survey and every label now has the glyph. I edit the labels on the fly, as the deed calls and measured calls vary from site to site. It would be great to turn them off. They don't show up on a plot and I cannot find a setting anywhere.

It wasn't easy to find but turns out these warning symbols can be turned off.

Command: OPTIONS > AEC Editor tab > Solution Tips > uncheck DRAFTING.

Looks like Jay_B beat me by a couple hours but I wrote up a blog post on this topic that shows how to turn it off and some of the issues you might have if you do.

Thanks for the workaround, at least it makes the drawings usable. I happen to like the feature, its the lack of controls that is the problem.

Thank you for the workaround, makes the drawings less stressful now.

Jeff, I guess what I am getting at is that when I open a drawing pre-SP1 update. All dynamic labels have the warning label whether they have been changed or not. So if I go into a drawing that has already been drafted I have a thousand labels with warnings, and only about 1% of those actually have been overridden. Only way I have found to clear the warning is to hit "clear label txt" which would then wipe all my labels and that 1% that I cannot remember why it was overridden in the first place.

Why they did not integrate this warning into the style like other warnings so it could be turned off........

@Anonymous, would you mind posting one of the drawings showing the information icon on all labels? All of my drawings I've opened I am only seeing the icon on labels that have actually been changed.

I agree that there should be a per style setting, or at least an easier way of toggling this feature on/off.

Does anyone know what system variable this option toggles?

I'd like to create a button or key command to switch back a forth on this display, but I can't seem to figure out which variable it controls.  Digging into the options all the time is a drag, and I'm likely to turn off the warnings forever if they don't create some way to tame them.

Thanks
