Offset Alignments & Subassemblies

Hi All,

 

  1. I created a road centreline alignment and offset alignments that are dynamically linked. Why is it that when I create kerb returns they do not link back to the tangent points but are still projected towards the intersection?
  2. When attaching a subassembly to the offset alignment that includes a kerb profile and pavement I want the pavement to target my road centreline. When I go to corridor properties I have the option to target the edge of pavement however it wont let me target alignments (road centreline). Cheers

The offset alignments are controlled by the centreline alignment.  The connected alignment (kerb return) is controlled by whichever two alignments they are linking (the offset alignments in this case).  This relationship is one way.  The offset alignments do not care nor are they controlled by the connected alignment.

 

To complete the junction corridor, you need a new region with the connected alignment as your baseline and targets set to Road 1 centreline and Road 2 centreline.

 

The centreline of Road 1 and Road 2 need to meet.

 

You can use masking to hide the ends of the offset alignment if you must, but I would not bother.

Thanks m.kingdon. So the ends of the offset alignments that are still visible after creating the kerb returns should not create any issues? I remember setting a slope of 3% when creating the offset alignment from the centreline. My subassembly is attached to the offset alignment and another would be attached to the kerb returns. Sorry new to this. Thanks

The corridor region based on the centerline should stop at the beginning of the curb return regions. You can manually drag the end of the offset alignments back to the beginning of the curb returns. NOT the curb return alignment but the start of the curb return region. If necessary go to the properties of the offset alignment, offset parameters tab and unlock the start or end as appropriate to drag the end of the alignments.
