Network tool palette with .pkt sub assemblies in a different location

Not applicable

I am looking for some expert advice.

We use C3D and have sub-assemblies in tool palettes for corridors.

Our problem is, that if you don’t have the sub assembly stored in your tool palette (around 6 users) and go and rebuild, the corridor breaks because it cant find the pkt file (nothing new there)

I have found out how to create a working network tool palette that will find the pkt files and this is all well however, from what I know and have tested, the tool palette needs to be in the same location as the pkt files.

This causes an issue because we regularly have custom sub-assemblies for specific projects saved in the specific project folder which would result in a link to each project tool palette and having to monitor who had the correct tool palettes loaded etc.

What I am looking to do is create a company tool palette on the server (standard folder away from the projects) and link import the sub-assemblies from the project folders into the standard tool palette folder.

Is this possible? Any suggestions would be greatly welcomed.

Thank you in advance

Brian

The problem arises from the way AD made the subassembly system work.  Each SA is actually a collection of VB code.  So it has be "imported" in every seat of C3D that will use it (importing it actually INSTALLS the vb app at the windows system level).

Please give the following a vote in hopes that we might get AD to change this.
