I have a surface with a dense tessellation setting and I don't know how to remove it. We typically don't use any tessellation and only have triangle vertices where there are elevation points or PI's on a feature line. How can I remove all the extra tessellation points in this surface?

You would have to remove from surface and re-add with the desired setting

Have a look at those feature lines, I bet you will find many elevation points. Weed the feature lines and you will have less elevation points and less triangulation.
