I'm using Nearmap for drawing production. Every time i close and open the drawings all the draworder settings will get get disturbed so its always rework whenever I'm doing some changes. Is there a way to fix this issue?. In below snip you can see the aerial image but all the proposed and existing services are under tat image. To fix it i need to set draworder everytime

Hi Soumya,
Have you tried lowering the Z elevation of the image to below your linework in Properties?

Soumya,
In Properties change the Z to be something lower than your linework.

No, it's not just an image, Near map is an online map like geolocation except for the fact that it gets plotted. we cannot select it.

The SORTENTS system variable "controls object sorting in support of draw order for several operations".  Try setting yours to 127 followed by a REGEN.

Can you capture area, clip/crop a section, of the Nearmap image like can the normal Autodesk Microsoft cloud map? Find it makes things more predictable regarding draworder as the capture behaves more like an image.

How is the Nearmap map attached or inserted into the drawing?

Hi @Soumya.Naik

I hope you're not using ATTACH command to add your Near Map image to your drawing.

If you're moving, scaling and rotating your image in modelspace after insertion, then you aren't using the geospatial qualities of Near Map to begin with. The image should plop down in the correct spot. If you're treating your Near Map imagery like an Xref, then the usefulness of that add on is limited.

Nearmap is online map you can connect and disconnect at any time just like geolocation.

I'm working on a project currently that also is using Nearmap. For those that don't know, it's an image service that uses the FDO WMS setup through the Map Task Pane to get image backgrounds instead of inserting them with MAPIINSERT. It's a pain to use. When a drawing is opened that uses this the image loads very pixelated and is on top of all the other drawing entities. Here's what it looks like when a drawing is first opened:

A REGENALL fixes the draw order issue, but the image stays pixelated.

The only ways I've found to get the image to look correct in the layout is to either turn it off then back on in the Task Pane or do a print preview followed by a REGEN.

If you're having draw order issues, be sure that the image in the Task Pane is below the Map Base as shown below.

This draw order is separate from the AutoCAD draw order system. Because why keep everything consistent,  eh Autodesk? 🙃

We didn't go with Nearmap. We went with Pictometry-EagleView. We can connect through their WMTS. I find the issues similar except for the pixelation not clearing up. It starts out pixelated but the image will improve over time.

Since this loads the whole County and you have to wait for all the images to reload each time. I zoom into the area of interest and Resample the Raster.

This acts like a clip to limit the amount of data you're dealing with.

Try sorting the draworder list in the mapwspace task pane. We keep our NearMap image at the bottom of the layer list for the groups and draworder.
