Missing .mms File

Hey Everyone,

I have a large topo surface that is being used to create a data reference. The surface build works fine but when going to save it starts to create a .mms file ( I can see it happening in a windows dialog box) and then aborts the process before actually creating the file.

The end result is that errors get thrown up when trying to reopen or reference the drawing, as it's missing the .mms file that's associated with it.

Has anyone else experienced this, or come up with a solution?

The issue is currently happening in 2018, and not being experienced in previous versions.

Thanks in advance!

Dear Friend,

Usually .mms file name has the [same name+some other codes] as your working file.

If your drawing file is ABC.dwg then your mms file will be like ABC_1eecee.mms.

So in case you have manually change the name of the drawing, then you have to rename the mms file in the similar way as described above.

Further solution of this thread might be helpful to you.

Thanks

Thanks for the reply!

I guess I wasn't clear in that it won't actually fully make the .mms file.

It starts to make it, but never finishes.

I think issue is in the dwg which contains the surface. In that surface dwg you may have changed name or the file may may missing. Please have a look at it first.

Hi Tanys,

Have you tried AUDIT / PURGE before saving the drawing? I've had the same issue once in 2017, after an AUDIT it did want to save the file. Somehow because it was so large it also brought an error with it..

Hey,

 Thanks for the suggestion!

The drawing file is brand new, the process so far has been to open a new drawing, bring in contour data, create surface, save drawing. At the save drawing stage I can watch the .mms file start to get made, and then to abort and disappear before finishing.

So, fresh drawing, no moving of files or deleting of data of any sort.

I'll give this a try and cross my fingers that it works!
