Microdrainage Utility Civil 3D 2016 - Error when trying to export

I've created my pipe network, renamed the pipes but when I try to export to file the following error message appears :

 

Unhandled exception has occurred in a component in your application. If you click continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue.

Conversion from string "006 (1)" to type 'integer' is not valid.

Please check the numbering again. Windes expects values of 1.000 to 1.001 etc. It looks like somewhere there may be a duplicate pipe named #.006 (1).

 

Its hard to diagnose these errors from the windes tool but generally speaking they are caused by the following;

 

incorrect numbers not pertaining to the 1.xxx numbering

numbers (as above) containing text (1) mostly due to user modifications (splitting pipes or inserting manholes, civil3d will name the new pipe as #.### (1))

Numbers not being of a true increment, Leaping from branch 1 to 3 without having 2 in the model.

 

I don't think I have found anything else so far.

@MikeEvansUK is correct, this has occurred due to incorrect pipe numbering. You need to number from the start of the longest run to the outfall as 1.000 >, then the next adjoining pipe run as 2.000 > etc

Thanks Mike & MMCGOVERN - I've managed to successfully export the pipe network as an .SWS file. However when I try to import the SWS file into microdrainage the following warning message pops up -  the specified pipe size file (Standard.PIP) cannot b elocated. would you like to specify a new file?

 

Any idea what causes this message and how It can be fixed? Is it related to the pipe part I have used in civils 3D?

No this relates to the standard files within microdrainage that contains the pipe sizes and manhole sizes that your company uses. You can create your own from within microdrainage.

Ignore this error (cancel) , more importantly:
Click cancel immediately after when you add the network param info.

Change the network to existing then change any pipe less than 10m in length to 10 (do not allow it to re calc lengths or coords)

Evaluate in sim and adjust as needed.
You now can change the network back to surface but say no to auto, export to native (not relevant in 18).

If you don't do the existing windes will likely change all you pipe sizes and mess about with the gradients.
By saying existing it won't but also it will enable start / end point level adjustment (cooy n paste from civil3d.

I really hate windes modelling and find it's quicker to just upsize to test then recreate the model and retest than trying to calc everything in windes. (I deal in small networks and gen size the pipes using tables first testing only for huge storm events and attenuation)
