Median Offset

I have 2 "parallel" 3dpolylines that i would like to offset to the "average" of the 2. We collected data along each side of a road and I would like to make a 3d centerline out of the 2 edges. I am more used to using carlson survey but now working with c3d. in carlson there was a median offset command that would do exactly this but with 2d lines. any help would be appreciated.

I am unaware of any direct way to do this. The only method I can come up with is to create a surface using the edges of pavement as breaklines, then take elevation from surface for the centerline.

You mean the average distance?
Osnap Mid between two point?

you shot the edge and are making up the center?.

... make a 3d centerline out of the 2 edges ... used to using carlson survey ....

If you were to consider third party add-ons, DotSoft's C3DTools contains a Figure Draw Midway tool that takes selection of two figures (polylines, 3dpolys, featurelines) and generates the midway path.  If the input paths are 3D (not flat) the result is also.

Contains many other tools you may have been accustomed to in your previous package.
