Very long discussion.

You must first have to understand code set styles,

You must assign materials in the top links of you corridor, This controlled by code set styles.

Make a search for civil 3d code set styles in youtube and you will find videos and webinars that explain very well the code set styles.

And if you want more there is the civil view witch connect civil 3d with 3ds max design. But you must have also the 3ds max design and have some basic knowlege on this.

AutoCAD Civil 3D 2013 Hotfix 3.

I'd do visualizations in Infraworks (3ds Max is arguably better but a steeper learning curve).

If you try visualizing a corridor in C3D with realistic textures, the performance degrades to the point of being unusable in my experience.

No i don't agree with you.

Its all about the correct code set style. Make a code set style in witch you will set all points to a no display style and all shapes to a no display style.

Assign materials to the top links, and last create an Autocad view style by copying the realistic style and in the edges settings put show: none.

Also in autocad options, in the selection tab, in the preview options turn of the two options " When a command is active" and "when no command is active"

With these settings and with your pc specifications you can orbit smothly any corridor.

If you give me a model i can make it for you.

And for the friend from the first post

"...in my experience..." doesn't extend to the methods you are suggesting; I'll try them the next time I do a corridor...:)
