I understand now. Those commands are not available in Civil 3D because
Civil 3D has the tools built into it. For example, instead of using the map
continuous distance (the one you have displayed in the image) use the Civil
3D continous distance (from the inquiry toolbar). For the map input tools
(for example, bearing and distance) use the Civil 3D transparent commands.

Apparently they're part of the map3dgeospatial.cui that is partially loaded
by default. On the Input and Inquiry toolbar in that cui there are a couple
buttons that I thought I might like but several that don't work at all
because they are MAPCG... commands (see attached screenshot) - some kind of
COGO routines that I would like to at least check out. I'm configuring for
rollout and like to have a good look.
