I am running AutoCAD Civil 3D 2012 and I am getting the same message after a fresh install. Is there a resolution for this error??
Looks like it's still the same in 2019.
"Macro file not found at original path specified in subassembly. Updated macro file location to path defined by AECCCONTENT_DIR environment variable.
However the environmental variable does exist.
Command: (getenv "AECCCONTENT_DIR")
"C:\\ProgramData\\Autodesk\\C3D 2019\\enu\\"
It also exists in the Registry
Just an FYI for the future.

I was having the same trouble with my custom subassemblies with a new install of 2019. I found that I could fix the problem by removing them from my tool palette. Opening them with the 2019 subassembly composer and saving them. Then inserting them back into the too palette. Hope this helps out.
