Lineweight in Layout Viewport

Yesterday I was trying to change the Lineweight of Contour lines in a Viewport. I tried changing it Bylayer and by changing it in the Style. No luck. Tried Audit and Recover. Nothing.

This morning I was going to post about it and started to go through changing in in the Style to get a couple of screenshots. It worked fine. No issues.

About 15 minutes later I noticed I only had the revised EP on a work layer for grading. So I extracted 2D polylines from the 3D polylines and placed them on a separate layer. Now I can't get those Lineweights to change. So a couple of screenshots of that.

Changed the VP Lineweight to something outragious to be sure it would be obvious.

Is the global width truly 0.00 or some smaller value that's rounding to 0.00

I think you touched on the problem. The polylines were individually set to a Lineweight of 0.000... I believe this happened during the 2D extraction, using Sincpac, because the Lineweight in the Properties Palette (not selection) was set to zero not Bylayer. Don't know why.

I set the polylines in Modelspace to a Lineweight of Bylayer and they now work as expected. I don't think this was an issue with the Contour Lineweight because I never saw a Lineweight of zero.

BTW: The global width was and remains zero out to eight decimal places

Ahh.  I've seen that sometimes with converted Microstation files.  Glad you found the issue and its resolved.

As to the contours issue:  I've had issues changing properties of a contour layer only to find out that the layer the SURFACE itself was on had a weird setting.  It's been a while since I dealt with that type of issue but hopefully it could help track down the issue.

I don't know what it was. Fixed itself overnight. So I can't track down anything.

Thanks.

A little more research. Changing the Lineweight in the Properties Palette (with no selection) changes the CELWEIGHT. SysVar. So any entities created will have that Lineweight set to them individually.
