layout profile does not have grip edits

C3D 2023

Created multiple layout profiles in one profile view.  I pick the profile and there aren't any visible vertices or grip edits.  I don't have the choice of making it static or dynamic.  I looked everywhere.

any help?

the profiles are the blue lines on HWY 22 profile.  Profile: Layout (24) is one.

the profiles don't show up in the profile tab of the profile view properties.

Those profiles aren't registered with the Profile View. Go to Profile View Properties, Profiles tab. You won't see your profiles listed there.

The profiles you are using are anchored to the alignment geometry points. That's why no grips. See the Profile Locking tab of Profile Properties.

I appreciate the replies and answers.

I can create profiles using the same command in the other profile views in the dwg and they show vertices and grips.  they also have the anchor profile to geo.......checked.

Why does just this one profile view do that and how can i create profiles in that view that can be manipulated.

I can manipulate the pvis using the edit geometry but it is odd.

Not a solution as to why the grips aren't visible, but a work around to enable you to edit the vertex stations and elevations.

Select the profile - from the ribbon select Geometry Editor.

On the geometry editor toolbar click on the Profile Grid View button - 3rd from the right.

This will allow you to edit the profile station and elevation values.

When I look for the profile views in Prospector, there are no views available. How did the profile views come into your dwg? I have no clue how this could happen. Could you explain the workflow that was used to create this dwg?

No sir, the layout profiles are quite short.  I did have one long profile and deleted segments i didn't need but when adding a vertex it would only add to the very beginning segment so i deleted the long one and drew several short ones.

Thank you.

Yes I can edit them that way but I'd prefer to grip edit for this part of the project.

Thank you for your reply.

How did you create these? Alignment A1 does not  have the layout profile(s) in them?

Any chance this drawing has been worked on by mixed versions of civil3d?

Good Catch Tim on the locking. how do you unlock? I selected lock to start and that cleared the radio buttons but I still didn't get grips.

I suspect multi version civil3d or not register application

The profile views are under sites\exist drain.  I used the baseline from the surveyor and made my alignment and input the existing drainage. So i kept using that alignment to input design drain.  The surveyor didn't send any smart data so i created all of the profile views in this drawing.

I wonder if because this profile view was used to generate the plan profile it doesn't allow it.  The profile views created by plan production doesn't allow the grip edit either.

Thank you.

I am the only one that has worked on this project.  Most everyone else in the office is running 2023.  One is still hanging on to 2022.

All apps in our office are registered.  I stay signed in all the time.

I reckon I will create the layout profiles in one of the other profile views, and when the location, elevations, and slopes are finalized I can project them to show in the plan production sheets.

Thank you all for your time and efforts.

I go down rabbit holes when something doesn't work as i think it should.

Thank you.

I didn't think to look under the sites group since I never put alignments in sites unless using them for creating parcels. I'll have another look for my own curiosity. Looks like you have plenty of good help here so I'll watch and see how it goes.

Well I'll be a monkey's uncle.  I just figured it out.  The layer the alignment (Alignment -A1) was on for that profile view was locked.  I unlocked the layer and voila, i have a live and grippy layout profile.  Well I had to create a new layout profile, the ones there didn't come alive.  That's just nuts.

Thanks again for everyone's replies and efforts.

Run Audit, it finds errors. Open using Recover, it finds errors. Unfortunately neither of these fix the issue at hand. Something is amiss in this drawing, but I sure can't find what it is...yet.
