Label to Total Number of Unconnected Pipes

I have a number of pipes (various runs) that are not connected (no structures and pipe breaks due to vertical and hoizontal bends). I need to show one label that shows the total length of pipe in the run in a label. Any ideas anyone?

Unfortunately, all the methods I know require the pipes to be connected to define the 'run'. Without those connections, there isn't a clear way to know if a pipe belongs in the run.

You might be able to use dynamo to work that out, but without the connections, you'd end up having to select the pipes manually or by a path object (alignment, polyline).
