Issue with pipe network

I have severa issues with pipe network tool :

1. Yesterday a colleague pointed an issue with the drawing template we use at work. When creating a pipe network, there is a single part which can not be created (900 mm concrete pipe), every other pipe diameter works. I can create the part and then change the inner diameter to 900 mm afterwards from the drop-down menu in the structure properties dialog box. Using the swap part command does not work. I tried deleting the part from the parts list and importing it again but that didn't solve the issue. I also tried a different parts catalog (with almost the same pipes) that didn't work either, so I went back to my previous pipe catalog.

2. The inner diameter was not right. So I edited the parts list and used the part editor to change the inner diameter from 915 to 900 mm. It was not possible to use this part prior to this modification, and still not possible after. But it now labels correctly.

3. I previously had access to a drop-down menu in the pipe properties dialog box (structure too) where I could change the inner diameter of the pipe without going through the hassle of using the swap part command. This drop-down menu vanished (see attached picture). Is there any manipulation that might have caused this?

Confirm your drawing/template is set to the intended parts catalog location.

Run PARTCATALOGREGEN.

Run PARTCATALOGTEST  (optional)

Remove the part from the current parts list and add it back in.

This usually fixes my part issues. If it doesn't then it means there is something not right in the part definition.  Use PARTBUILDER for that.

Audit-Purge didn't do anything.

I also did that without any result :

In the meantime, I dug out the original parts caralog that was supplied with the template. So I replaced the current catalog with the original one. Everything works again. I probably messed something up while editing the catalog with the parts builder.

Part Builder can be a huge pain and if you do the smallest thing wrong it can break entire parts or catalogs.  I did a lot of research and testing when I wrote my Autodesk University class a few years ago.  If you are trying to create a custom catalog either from scratch or by editing parts, you might benefit from a few things in the handout.  A few of the things in the handout, unfortunately, don't work in newer versions of Civil 3D though.
