Inserting a gradient diagram into a map

Hello fellow Community,

I just wanted to know, if there's any way to insert a "handmade" (made in AutoCAD) gradient diagram into an existing Civil 3D map. For our university project, we created the diagram in a rather old-fashioned way, by calculating heights and certain ratios with formulas. This means, that our diagram is completely unattached to our Civil 3D sketch.
Now, we need these gradient diagrams for the planning of our canal network, since the heights are indispensable for that. Thus, we wanted to know, if there's any way to insert the height diagram properly into our sketch, so that the corresponding roads attach to the heights from the diagram.

Thank you in advance!

You can insert a drawing into another with INSERT command.

understanding the diagram is not tied to your civil 3d objects but I got lost when you said the diagram is for your canals and then started describing you road setup?

More information would be helpful. Picture? File?

a little

:light_bulb:! These are your road profiles?

you should and can convert them so your road are tied together

As @Joe-Bouza mentioned. We need a definition of Height Diagram. If you have a plan of the area and the AutoCAD entities are at elevation. You can add those to a Surfaces. Can you post a drawing or a screen shot of your Height Diagram?

BTW. Doing it the "old fashioned way" can help a lot in understanding what to do in the program later.

Hello @david.meyerSRWE8 ,

I think what you're asking for is what is called an Elevation Analysis. You run the surface analysis from the Analysis tab of Surface Properties but, first, apply a Surface Style that displays Elevation components.

When you are running the Elevation Analysis, you will have opportunity to modify the ranges, so as to fit the static diagram you are emulating. You can also create a dynamic table of this information.
