Import SHP File into Civil 3D

I need to bring a SHP file into an AutoCAD drawing. I've always used the MAPIMPORT command to do this.  Now, in AutoCAD 2016, SHP files are not listed among file types I can import.

Is there a way I can do this?

Or, is there another way to import SHP files into an AutoCAD drawing file.

Thanks in advance,

Dave

Autocad or Civil 3D.  No can do for AutoCad, but yes for Civil 3D.

If your using Civil 3D you can also use the mapwaspaceThis command will open the AutoCAD Map 3D Task Pane, which will allow you to create, manage, display, and publish GIS data using Map 3D.

At the Command line type=> mapwspace

Data Connection by Provider => connect to data

I hope this helps!

Along these same lines, I have Civil3D 2018 and just recently (same software) I stopped being able to view my imported shapefiles' fields (using MAPIMPORT), even when I chose to "create object data". If I click on the imported object, none of hte fields are visible in the properties pane. Anyone else having this problem?

That data connection is a new concept to explore, but seems far more complicated than necessary.

How do you isolate the shp file to the area you need, to limit amount of data you bring in to drawing?

Mike,
2 ways. You can "Define Window" at Import, or afterwards you can use MAPTRIM.
