images in different state plane zones

I run sid images through Quantum GIS to clip them down to the area I want and convert them to the appropriate coordinate system and zone.  Then I use MAPIINSERT to bring the image into Civil 3D (with the drawing settings set to the appropriate coordinates and zone).  I currently have images for Missouri State Plane in the West and Central zones that border each other.  I need to find a way to insert these images into the same drawing in Civil 3D so that they both come in at the correct location.  Any ideas?

Hello-

I believe you will have to set up a drawing file that is based on the MO SPC coordinate system that has the most images you want to insert.  If it is only one image each, then select the MO SPC zone you want to base the drawings on and run with that.

Then MAPIINSERT the other image(s) based on 2nd MO SPC zone into a separate file and XREF that into the primary image drawing by manually specifying the insertion point so it lines up with other image(s).

I hope this helps.

I haven't done this in a long time. But... If you insert the images into drawings with the correct systems then do a map query from the drawing with one set of images. The images queried from the second drawing should come into that system. Both systems have to be defined in Civil 3D

Allen

I am not familiar with the map query.  Where is it and how would I use it.

Turn MAPWSPACE On. On the Map Explorer tab rt-clk on Drawings and Attach the drawing you want to query from. You may have to create an Alias if the drawing isn't on C:. Rt-clk on Query and do a Location query based on All. Make sure you select Draw as the Query Mode and then Execute Query.
