I don't have SELECT SIMILAR option when I select and object and right click it. Are there any system variable to control this? Where could I find it? thanks

if you enter the command SELECTSIMILAR and then SE for settings, what are the options ticked? the default should just be layer and name.

I am not asking about the settings. When I right click and object, I can't see SELECT SIMILAR option there. How could I let it appear? Thanks for your help!

Make sure your PICKFIRST is set to 1

Unless you are on an older version (Selectsimilar was added in 2011), the only way to get rid would be to edit the right click shortcut option in cui? There is a variable selectsimilarmode that controls the settings for selectsimilar but it does not entirely hide the option. Also check PickFirst as pointed out in post 4.

Presuming you actually have something selected, as @user181 said, make sure PICKFIRST = 1.

Your screenshot is the "nothing is selected" RC menu.

Open CUI

Command: CUI,

In "All Customization Files" window, expand "Shortcut Menus"

Expand "Context Menu for edit Mode"

Go to "All Commands Only" window (below) and search for "Select Similar"

Left click "Select Similar" and drag it over "Context menu for edit mode" and drop it

Apply

Ok
