Huge SID Files, Won't allow me to work without being extremely slow

I have 4 SID files of the 4 quadrants of an image for our city. They range from 4.2 GB to 3.27 GB and I am assuming that is why my C3D is ridiculously slow. We need to keep the high resolution images if possible. 

 

Any ideas? Thanks for the help.

How are you importing the SID's into your drawing, MAPIINSERT or MAPCONNECT?
