how to upload .mms file

I've been sent a topo file for a site with a surface created from a point file. The surface does not load however.

I was not sent the point file the surface was made from but I was sent the .mms that I assume is the surface itself. Can I load that surface with just the .mms file? The file is in the same folder as the drawing and I've tried just rebuilding the surface but no luck.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

We would need to see how the surface is defined in the drawing. Check surface properties, and it should show you how it was created. If it has a point file attached to the surface, then you will need it to build the surface. As for the MMS file, that usually means the surface was created with a point cloud or dtm. Based on what you have in the properties, I would probably request an xml file for the surface.

In my experience mms files  cause all sorts of problems with surfaces and are best avoided if possible. Simplifying the surface with 85% point reduction has worked well for me as has bringing in files to a surface with a data clip boundary predefined as the first operation in the surface definition.

The surface just references the ancillary mms file.. you need the surface to make it all work together.
