I know you can select the surface and extract the boundary or contour data, the issue im having is that when i extract the boundary the elevations along the boundary are generalized to one number and its not even the high or low point its some sort of average... as I am making a grading plan for a ramp, and have a surface for the ramp, i need to retain all the correct elevations in order to produce an accurate grading plan. PLEASE HELP!!!
Hi @sfreemancad After extracting it you could use the _AeccFeatureElevsFromSurf command and add elevations from the surface to it. The command is also located on the Modify tab of the ribbon in the edit elevations panel
I just tried this and it still generalized the elevations along the line, expect now its the lower one being used. I know that its a gradual change up 2'... so each pi should be different and min and max should be expressed. I made a feature line and added elevations from surface and it shows the min and max... maybe thats right
I have some pic examples of how its not lining up correctly, you can see the ramp surface, in brown, the eg is green, the grade plan is the same brown, you can see the elevation discrepancies
Edit the Surface Style.
Go to the Borders tab.
Set Border Display Mode to Use Surface Elevation.
that is already selected, it looks like my ramp surface is floating above EG, and the grade should be between the two.. i attached two pics
My question would be: Why are you extracting surface data? Why not just data reference the surface(s)?
I would need to inspect your drawing...
What does extracting data from a surface have to do with making an accurate grading plan?
im accustomed to grading to some original ground usually called existing ground in these parts.
tge we grade to existing to form a proposed grading with the various tools to help match existing accurately *
*accuracy is a function of the data acquired to build EG
