HOW TO DRAW POLYLINE AROUND CONTOURS FOR BOUNDARY ?

We have a contour sheet in civil 3D and want to create surface and boundary. For creating boundary there should be a polyline around the countours. Can anyone tell me the shortcut for how to draw that polyline using any commands??

Are the "contours" that you're talking about the representation of the surface (based on the style), or are these "contours" the source data for your surface (in other words, polylines)?

If the former, then select the surface, right-click, choose Edit Surface Style, then go to the display tab, then turn on the "Border" visibility toggle.

If you want to extract that border as a polyline, select the surface again, and in the contextual tab, choose "Extract from Surface", then "Extract Objects", then choose to extract the Border. Ref: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w3Qyl6h7zx4

If you have a surface made with contours and you are trying to get rid of the long triangles on the perimeter you can go int your Surface Properties-Definition-Build and use the Maximum Triangle length.  (Be careful not to go too small that it removes contours inside the surface you would want) The border will shrink to the revised triangles. After that, if you want that border you can do what R.K. McSwain suggested.

Try LINEWORKSHRINKWRAP command. You might need to use grips to edit the resultant polyline, but it should be faster than manually drawing the polyline.
