How can I import a .TIF map data file into AutoCad, Revit, or Civil 3D?

As the title says, I have a .TIF map data file given to us from a client. I need to import it into either revit, ACAD, Civil3D. is there a way to do this without an add on? can i convert it to a file type that is usable? everything i have found so far has not solved this problem.

Thanks.

Hi Gareth,
Tiff's shouldn't be a problem. What have you tried so far?
In Civil 3D you can use MAPIINSERT or MAPCONNECT. If you have Raster Design, use IINSERT.

mapinsert returns the error that ''command is not possible in modelspace#. when i activate the online map and try to add the .tif file via the 'insert image'  button on the command tab, no file explorer opens to allow me to select the file. instead autocad asks for the file name however when typing in the file name it returns the same error message 'command not possible in modelspace.

the .tif file is only 751kb so i don't think size is an issue.

It's beginning to sound like the TIF may be damaged. Can you open it in a raster editor?

What's it supposed to contain? Is it supposed to be Georeferenced?
