How are superimposed profiles elevation data established?

When we create superimposed profiles, do the profile elevations come from a perpendicular projection from the parent alignment to the source alignment? Or does it work in the opposite direction?

That's a good question: You can inquire in the plan and get the answer. I suspect just as station offset and perpendicular at the station

Yes perpendicular to the host alignment. see attached

Weird. That's nearly the same thing I tried, but I wasn't getting the same results. I'll dig into it a little more.

be careful that the SI profile's alignment does steer too far from the host. if the SI align turns too much you may have multiple point at the same station or worse back-tracked
