HELP - Adding a feature line to a surface/corridor

Hello,

I am very new to Civil 3D; and I have to work on a project that was started by another person with whom I am  no longer in touch.

She created a surface, alignment, profile, cross sections, etc... The cross sections have a label that shows where the property line is, and the property line is a "feature line".

I would like to do the same for the other side where there is another property. I drew a polyline where I want the other surface line to be, then I converted it to a feature, and chose the option to match the surface elevations. Now I would like to add this feature line as a "breakline" on the existing cross sections, and whenever I choose the "add to surface as breakline" option and go through the prompts I get an error saying "error adding breakline"

How do I add the label of the feature line to my cross sections?

Thanks!

Hi @Anonymous

You don’t want to add the feature line as a breakline! This command is to add the feature line to surface object to define terrain elevations.

there is several methods for getting the property lines to show on a section view; the easiest method is to select your feature line and go to the home ribbon tab/find the drop down menu under sections and choose project on section view. The next dialog box will help you assign a label.

hope this help,

Hi @Anonymous ,

You can try this:

1-Copy the feature line to the same place

2-Explode de copyed feature line (It will become a 3DPoly)

3-Add that 3DPoly as a breakline.

Hope it help's.

HI @wfberry ,

My response was based on the question:

HELP - Adding a feature line to a surface/corridor

"Now I would like to add this feature line as a "breakline" on the existing cross sections, and whenever I choose the "add to surface as breakline" option and go through the prompts I get an error saying "error adding breakline"

Is there anything wrong with it?

I'm always learning!

OK, he was informed in the previous post that adding a breakline was not the way to do what he wanted.

Adding a breakline is done to change a surface elevations but the the breakline in question was derived from that surface, thus no change.
