Hi, im just having a tiny problem thats playing havoc with me at the moment. Im use to working with cad lt but company have just recently aquired civil 3d.

My problem is when i draw a rectangle and i try either rotate or move it by the center point grip, the center grip is not accurate, either slighty off center or outside of the rectangle entirely???? Also when i try to draw a small rectangle the geometric center grip just doesnt display??? All works fine on cadlt for some reason,,, help,,, driving me insane. All my osnap settings are the same as i have in cad lt too.

Hi Joe,

Thank you. I hadn't used that one. Probably because it's Command Line Only:M2P.png

Joe,

I looked at your Post #4 and thought, "That's handy. Why hadn't I noticed it before." It's amazing what you don't see when you're not looking for it. I had also not noticed, as Jeff mentioned, that "Geometric Center" is NOT in the right-click menu.Track_1.png

@Pointdump Dave, It's there in 2019. Also the command line alias is GCE.

Make sure your object is flat.

Hi all,,, again!

Is the only solution to move my drawing closer to 0,0 xy. It does seem to fix the issue but i do lose the xy coords of my drawing????

Thanks

Aaron

Have you tried temporarily adjusting the UCS to a point near your data to see if that allows the Geometric Center to act correctly.

Hi

yes i have tried moving the wcs origin closer to my drawing but that also changes the xy coord values, which i need to keep. But it does clear up the geometric center problem.. one thing leading to another. ☹️

👍

No sir.....

I can set my UCS to a point close to my survey that is in State Plane, and create a new point and that point will have a Grid NE value that reflects its true position, the UCS has nothing to do with that.

Change UCS orgin. Do not change the world coords.

You can move you're UCS Origin closer to your drawing, do what you have to do and then restore it to World. No harm done. I'm still of the opinion that you shouldn't have to do this. But it's a good workaround for now.

Hi all

I don’t think i’ll ever get to the bottom of this one.... think the M2P method is the closest i’m getting to an answer.

Would like to thank everyone for there help! Appreciate it 👍.

I was wrong. This is from AutoCAD 2019 NOT Civil 3D 2019. I was trying to use it in Civil 3D this morning and going crazy because I knew I had seen it.

I had a similar issue. Try setting your SNAPBASE closer to your drawing objects. Your coordinate system 0,0 origin is to far away for AutoCAD to calculate the geometric center accurately when coordinates are in the millions.
