Extending Existing Alignment wont Update Profile

Hello,

I'm trying to figure out why after extending an alignment I can not seem to force the profile to update with it. The alignment stationing in plan view changes to accommodate the extension, but the profile does not. I've noticed there's been many people in the past that have had similar issues, but trying their solution hasn't seem to work for me.

I've tried deleting and recreating the profile view. I've tried to change the Update mode of the profile to Dynamic, but it's stuck on blank with no option to change even to static. I can extend the profile manually to the new station, but that just seems wrong.

I extended two different alignments. The first was an extension of the 0+00 point to a new starting point, the second was the extension of the end point of an alignment from like 23+00 to 24+30. I was able to fix the one alignment that I change the starting point by manually resetting the origin station to 0+00, but that blew up all my regions which at that point I was ok with. The second alignment I've not been able to figure out how to change it.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you.

A Dynamic Surface profile will update with changes to the alignment. Design/Layout profiles are dependent on the station of the PVIs defining the profile and do not automatically update.

Thank you. I figured I had to change it manually, just seem a bit backward in my opinion.

The StretchProfile tool in the Sincpac was created to help with fixing profiles after editing the alignment.

Is this StretchProf command still active in civil 3d 2026? I increased my alignment but the profile failed to adjust to the changes.

Hello!

The software and commands @Jeff_M is mentioning is a separate pack, not a part of Civil3d.

However, you CAN lock your design profile to alignment geometry points. To be honest, I've just recently noticed that 😅
