Exporting Points with layer information-other options

Hey All,

I've been trying to export cogo points out of Civ3D 25 with layer information included. 

So far I've tried the "copy and paste out of Point Editor" and the lisp routine found in an earlier thread on the same topic.  Neither of them work, and I am not very tech savvy with making a lisp routine or even modifying a lisp routine. I've checked to see if they work by opening the file in Excel and there is no layer information.  I have my Description Keys set to create points on the appropriate layers

The reason I am trying to do this is our firm uses FieldLink for layout and we'd like to be able to sort the points into separate layers in the software for ease of displaying points.  I've included a drawing with the points in case anyone needs to dig deeper into the issue.

When I tried to upload the csv file into the Fieldlink software, it says "points had incorrect formats or were not readable and were ignored."

OK, so the problem is Fieldlink. I've never used it, so I don't know in what format it needs the points.

Thats what I figured as well...Field link is new to me so I'm kinda fumbling around trying to figure it out.

Looks like FieldLink wants a CSV file arranged thusly:
Name,X,Y,Z,Desc,Layer

That seems do-able. Watch video >>>Here<<<. There's a link under the video to a sample CSV file formatted for use in FieldLink. (Attached here)

okay, so how do I get any kind of information into the Name category of a point?  Would that be through a lisp routine or project explorer, or some other feature of civ3d?  I'm looking as we communicate, but i have no real idea where to start...

Aron,
You could just use Point Numbers as Names.
Or in the Point Editor put the Name column at the first of the list and type in something. (Unless your points already have point names, this column will probably be blank.)

Aron, the cogoExport lisp that @hippe013 posted HERE works perfectly. I ran it on the dwg you posted.

Command: COGOEXPORT
Select objects: Specify opposite corner: 217 found
Select objects:
Points have been exported. Quantity: 217

The only issue I see is that the Lisp exports Northing/Easting. The example of FieldLink the OP posted looks like it imports Easting/Northing. A simple edit of the Lisp would fix it or bring the CSV file into Excel and swap the columns.

I've got the LISP written so that it does export northing, then easting. I tested it out this morning and it works just fine.

Good Idea Dave!

Here is the LISP that I use to export points using the COGOEXPORT command in the following format:

Name, Northing, Easting,Elevation,Description,Layer

Name is actually the Point Number that was assigned to the point when it was created in Civ3D using Create Ground Data>Points>Point Creation Tools.
