Exported file to DGN does not open properly in Microstation

An autocad file (.dwg) was exported to Microstation format (.dgn) using Civil 3D. The file contained Civil 3D objects in model space such as alignments, profiles, and alignment labels, etc. The file also had multiple layout tabs having objects such as the titleblock (block reference), annotations, and multiple viewports.

When opening the exported file in Microstation, the model space opens with no issue. However, the layout tabs, which are converted Microstation "paperspace", do not open properly. It freezes the Microstation window and ultimately aborts the program. Any idea what may be the cause of this issue? How can I export the .dwg files properly, including the layout tabs?

While writing this post, I realized that this might be more of a Microstation forum question but here goes nothing!

Thanks in advance!

Could also be a Civil 3D issue which means you can post there as well.

I hope this helps. Previously, we had trouble with one of our DGN files and encountered an error when trying to open it. Luckily, we found a tool called FileFixer, which helped us recover and open the file. If this doesn't work, we also found this tool called Translation Manager which effortlessly handled the conversion from our DGN to DWG and vice versa process without any hiccups
