Export Civil Objects to SDF

I've been looking a old posts and I have not seen anything to help me with this.

The problem is when using the "export civil objects to SDF, It will not export my civil 3D parcel objects.

I've tried it in 2018 and 2020. The command seems straight forwarded. It will create the the SDF file but will not have the civil object data. Looking at the command line after the file is created it states Command: _

AeccExportToSDF
Exported 0 points
Exported 0 alignments
Exported 0 parcels
Exported 0 pipes
Exported 0 structures

But in the dwg file I have civil 3d parcel objects.

Thank you for your time

Thanks,

Hi @dkaven

Have you been able to resolve your query?

Otherwise, I would like to see how it would work on my end and check whenever I'm able to export your parcels. Is it possible to share your *.dwg file with us?

Let me know, please.

Wojtek.

I've been looking and working with this, and no luck yet. Basically I have a dwg made 2 Civil 3D parcels and ran the command "export civil objects to sdf".

I did narrow it down to my dwg. If I create a new dwg from an out of box dwt it will work. If I create a new dwg from my company design dwt it will not. I also ran audits etc to make sure it was a good dwg.

Please see attached dwg

Thank you for your response to this problem I'm having.

I did a little experiment:

1. I created parcels from clean lines and export to sdf worked

2.I then added four more parcels created from polylines and sdf no longer worked

SDF is for Map3D export, Civil objects while there in the same software don't export to SDF unless you explode them to dumb acad objects.

If you are Exporting Percel or other Civil Data to SDF ,  then using Civil 3D 2020, direct export Civil Object to SDF, It works for me, If you are Exporting Cad data like polyline , or polygon as MapExport commond to SDF , then make sure to select in option tab when exporting to sdf check  treat closed polyline as polygon.

Hi @dkaven ,

Thanks for sharing your file and a very precise explanation of your workflow.

Per my investigation, it looks that the issue appears when in Parcel Style upon a Summary tab, Parcel Name Template value is set to <[Parcel Number]> only.

Once you add any Suffix or Prefix to it, or another property naming filed, or change it to a different one, it will export your parcels correctly. Please see:
cc.gif

Hence, I do not find an explanation why it doesn't work when Parcel Name Template is set up to <[Parcel Number]> only, I will log this to our development team to take a closer look.

Thanks,
Wojtek

Wow! That makes sense why it would work in out of the box. The out of box style is prefixed with a number. So I added a prefix to the current style I'm using and as you stated in the demo, and it worked.

Will the development team respond to this if we have a fix when using number only?

Nice work Wojtek!

Thank you so much,

Thanks,
Danny Kaven

Hi Danny,

Glad to hear it works on your end too.

As this is redirected to DevTeam, they will take action to look at it definitely. I can't promise on any dates, tho.

If you need any additional assistance just let me know and I will be happy to help.

Thanks,
Wojtek
